AI is taking the world by storm. From using it for recipes, to asking it for advice, AI has become an everyday tool. Some might think that Artificial Intelligence will make your legal fees cheaper, this narrative is false. In the legal field, AI is not a proficient substitute for real, face to face, legal counsel.
Clients often ask how an electronically organized summary generated by AI could be helpful. No matter how reliable the information is that is provided, AI is a great imposter. AI does not formulate information from real life. It learns from information entered by others.
Providing your attorney with documents generated by AI will hinder your counsel’s ability to provide you with optimal legal assistance. Putting your information into AI and having it produce legal strategies is not a viable legal shortcut. Due to its production of misleading and completely fabricated material.
Giving your attorney materials produced by AI will require them to dedicate more time to verifying and analyzing the information that is generated. This is work that is unnecessary and will increase your legal fees. It is imperative that lawyers rely on accurate information to defend you. It takes an attorney more time to go through and verify everything that AI generates, than to gather information relevant to the case directly from the client and ask follow-up questions.
To have the most effective legal counsel, tell your attorney your situation, let them do the rest. Your attorney cannot protect you from what they don’t know. More importantly, you cannot be protected from a fictitious spin generated by a bot. After all, you do pay attorneys for their legal expertise after all those years of schooling!
